Horsefeathers!!!! What happened to the 2nd and 3rd? And, obviously, this isn't getting posted until the 5th! Working late - lots of work comp claims lately. Tim has his first wrestling dual since Christmas tonight. This image is from the Christmas tournament. One of his teammates pinned his opponent in one of the most unorthodox moves I've ever seen. Life is like that, you know. Just when you think you think you have things figured out, something comes out of the blue. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. You just have to hang in there and keep after it!

Hope everyone else's resolutions are going better than mine. However, this is a stumble - not a fall. Have a GREAT day!!!

Resolutions? If you don't make any then you cannot break them! :)

LOL...resolutions? What resolutions?

Nah..I didn't make any either apart from a very vague to try new things, explore more with the camera.

What sort of lighting/settings do you use for the wrestling shots? Flash? This is a great shot!! Loads of action and emotion.

I just use the built in flash - I'm always afraid I'll distract them or blind them if I use more. I use a 70-300 mm IS lens - set ISO to 1600 and use aperature priority set to 5.6 or 4.0 (which is as low as I can go). If the gymnasium is really dark and I can get close, I switch to my 50mm 1.8 lens - same setup - ap set to 1.8. The images can be noisy at full size, but if I print, it's usually no more than 8.5 x 11, and my main objective is to burn the pics to cd to give to the kids at the end of the season. I also put together a slide show for the end of season banquet and they love seeing themselves on the "big screen".
